TERRAIN
Terrain can affect army units residing in it, or buildings built in it. See below for explanation of terrain effects:
Artic Tundra – All cavalry units except Undead Knights cannot attack from, or into, artic tundra hexes. No farms or marketplaces may be built in artic tundra hexes.
Desert – Except for Undead units, impose a -1 to the Attack Dice roll result (minimum result of 1) when attacking a target army unit that is residing in a Desert hex. No farms or breweries may be built in desert hexes.
Forest – Add a +1 to Defense Dice of any Elf unit residing in a Forest hex. No stables or farms may be built in forest hexes.
Grasslands – Re-roll any Attack Dice results of “1” when attacking in, or attacking from, a grasslands hex with Elf or Human Cavalry. Second roll result(s) stands.
Hills – Add a +2 to Defense Dice roll results of Giants being attacked in Hill hexes. The Giant unit must be residing in the Hill hex, but the attacker does not.
Lake - Add a +1 to Defense Dice of any Troll unit residing in a Lake Hex. No buildings may be built or placed in lake hexes. Only Trolls and Undead can cross/enter lake hexes.
Mountain – Add a +1 to Defense Dice of any Dwarf unit residing in a Mountain hex. No farms or stables may be built in mountain hexes.
River – Add a +1 to Attack Dice of any Troll unit residing in a River hex. No buildings may be built or placed in river hexes. All cavalry units must cross rivers at bridges.
Swamp – All cavalry units cannot enter swamp hexes. No buildings may be built or placed in swamp hexes. Trolls get +1 to Defense Dice while residing in a swamp hex. Also, during the Troll player’s turn, they may create one unit of Troll Warriors at any unoccupied swamp hex at the cost of three resource points.
Free feel to create new terrain types and special effects for them. Note that bonuses from terrain hexes can stack with the “DEFEND” action. For instance, a unit of Hill Giants is residing in a Hill hex with the DEFEND action/order given to them. They are attacked by army unit adjacent to them. The Hill Giants get +3 to their Defense Dice roll result.
